Greetings from Oxford! I am a little late writing a post because I did not receive my luggage until Tuesday night which caused all sorts of problems. Now that I am done with my first week of classes and am comfortably in clean clothes, I can sit back and reflect.
Exeter College is basically a castle and is gorgeous. My room is relatively small but I like it and I have a great view. The food is a little odd sometimes but they feed us well and serve us very elaborate dinners. The weather has been comfortable every day and it has not rained too much I was worried about not having air conditioning in my room but the breeze is so nice it is not necessary.
My two classes are exciting and intellectually stimulating. The professors are both highly qualified. One of them even fought in the wars and skirmishes we are discussing in class, an experience I could not get anywhere else. I loved that on the first day when we went around the room introducing ourselves, I was one of youngest and least experienced people in the room. I am sure I will have a lot to learn from my peers.
My classmates age from 19-60 and come from Australia, New Zeeland, Denmark, the UK, Germany, and many more countries. Even the people from the US have various backgrounds, high school teachers, undergrads, graduate students, lawyers, Fox News pundits, and a (soon to be) Major in the US Army to name a few. A collection of such intelligence and experiences would be nearly impossible to find in Louisville Kentucky.
I was hoping to have more pictures but I accidently missed the walking tour and a lot of my free time has been when it was raining. I will attempt to post the ones I have, although the internet connection is a bit spotty. Until next time!
